TMC-GJM alliance will benefit all, feel leaders of both parties

MP, 19 March 2019, Darjeeling: The Trinamool Congress-Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) alliance will benefit both the Hills and the plains. With peace in the Hills, everyone will enjoy the fruits of development and economic empowerment, stated TMC and GJM leaders at a meeting in Siliguri.

"After long a son of the soil is contesting elections from the Darjeeling constituency. He will be with the people of the constituency through thick and thin," stated Goutam Deb, TMC Darjeeling district president during the meeting on Monday. He was referring to the candidature of Amar Singh Rai, who will be contesting on a TMC ticket backed by the GJM from the Darjeeling constituency.

"The BJP had fielded Jaswant Singh and SS Ahluwalia in 2009 and 2014. After they won they hardly visited Darjeeling. People had to lodge missing complaints in their names," stated Deb.

The joint workers' meeting was held in the Indoor Stadium in Siliguri. "I am sure I will be able to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted upon me by TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee," Rai said.

He stated that this alliance was a common venture. "TMC and GJM, the two largest parties coming together will benefit one and all," remarked Rai. He stated that BJP has betrayed the Hills twice. People of the Hills have felt hoodwinked and hence this will be an apt reply to the party.

"Through the initiatives of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, peace has returned to the Hills and with peace, development has come," added Rai.

He further stated that disturbance in the Hills has adversely affected the plains, mainly Siliguri, which is a business hub. "Together TMC and GJM will ensure that peace is not disturbed in this region. With peace will come prosperity," Rai said.

Aroop Biswas, the Observer for Darjeeling, was present in the meeting. He stated that the alliance will ensure that BJP is ousted from the constituency.

"Our supremo has stated that we will get 42 out of 42 seats. The first one on the list will be Darjeeling," said Biswas.
