Chairman's Gold Cup
TT, 3 Dec 2018, Siliguri: Bengal tourism minister Gautam Deb, minister of state for sports Laxmiratan Shukla and chairman of the BoA of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Binay Tamang on Sunday unveiled the replica of the trophy to be awarded to the winner of the GTA Chairman's Gold Cup here.
Sources said the first match will be played at Salugara on December 9 while the final game would be held in Kalimpong on December 23.
In total, 16 teams will participate at the tourney, among which include nine teams from Calcutta and four teams from Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts.
The tournament is being jointly organised by GTA Sports Council and the state sports and youth affairs department, said Tamang.
Along with Salugara, the matches would be played in Darjeeling, Kurseong, Mungpoo, Kalimpong and Sukna.
"The winning team will get Rs 3 lakh while the runner up will receive Rs 2 lakh. There will be other trophies like the player of the tournament and man of the match award," said Tamang.
