Police felicitate woman for protesting public peeing

TNN | KOLKATA: Advocate Liza Rahman was felicitated by the south division police on Tuesday for protesting against two young men urinating in public near Menoka Cinema on Friday.

The police said the felicitation was their appreciation for bravery among citizens. The Kolkata Police tweeted: Meet the brave lady Liza Rahman! On 23.11.18, seeing some people urinating on the road, Liza protested. Being threatened of dire consequences, she approached Police. 5 culprits were arrested. We salute Liza’s concern for cleanliness & of course her courage!

Around 9.30pm on Friday, the Budge Budge resident and her husband were travelling on their scooterette when they spotted the two youths. They slowed down and Rahman asked them if it was the right place to unrinate. Seconds later, 9-10 youths chased the couple on bikes and caught up with them at the next signal. But despite the abuses hurled at Rahman, the couple stood their ground, and objected to public urination.
