CM sets out for visit to Hills today, to hold high-level meet with GTA

CM sets out for visit to Hills today, to hold high-level meet with GTAMP | Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will set out for her tour of the Hills on Monday. 
People of Darjeeling and Kalimpong are waiting for the moment of the Chief Minister's arrival on Monday, as they want to get a glimpse of the person who has ensured overall development of Bengal in the past seven years. 
The Chief Minister will be holding a high level meeting with the top brass of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA). The meeting with the GTA members will be held on September 4.
The tourism sector in the Hills has witnessed a major boost in the past few months, after peace was restored following necessary initiatives taken by the Chief Minister. Now, the aim is to ensure further development of the tourism sector in the hills. 
With a focus on doing the same, the Chief Minister will be discussing various related issues with the GTA authorities in the meeting that is scheduled to be held on September 4. 
At the same time, one of two state-level programmes will be held at Darjeeling Chowrasta on Teachers' Day. From the same programme, the Chief Minister will be laying the foundation stone of Greenfield University. 
At the same programme, the Chief Minister will be handing over documents of land rights to around 300 families from Darjeeling and 100 from Kalimpong. 
It may be mentioned that there is also a plan to felicitate Swapna Barman at the same programme, as she is scheduled to return to the country on September 3 after her success in the Asian games. There will be a gathering of thousands of people at the programme and the last minute preparation for the same is going on in full swing. Banerjee will be in the Hills till September 6. 
The area has already been decorated with placards and banners to welcome the Chief Minister. There will be many people at Bagdogra Airport on Monday to welcome the Chief Minister. 
The police are taking all necessary steps to ensure that no untoward incident takes place during the Chief Minister's visit. Security in Darjeeling will be tightened up. The police are also taking necessary measures to ensure smooth flow of traffic in Darjeeling during the visit of the Chief Minister. It may be recalled that for the first time ever, Hill Business Summit was organised in Darjeeling on March 13 and 14. The move of organising the summit was undertaken to give a boost to the economy of the Hills. The Chief Minister had attended the summit along with senior officials of the state government.
