Tamang seeks support to rid Hills of ills
SNS, 18 August 2018, Kurseong: The chairman of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Board of Administrators Binoy Tamang, to day said that he does not want to be in the political field for long, as he has already spent 32 years of his life in it so far. He also appealed to all to support him in his efforts to cure the ills plaguing the Hills. Addressing a function organised to mark the 51st Foundation Day of Kurseong College here, Mr Tamang said that he may do politics for another 10 years. "I am not able to give time to my family members, and also, anything can happen before those 10 years I wish to be in politics I have made several enemies in my political career," he said.
"I may or may not be in power in the futu re, but this is the right time. I am a medium, and through this medium, people should place their grievances and try to solve their problems." he added.
According to him, Kolkata is presently ''giving or considering different things or issues"
'They may not give 10 out of 10 at present, but they have been giving at least eight" he said.
Mr Tamang also said that several people have been criticizing him on social media by labeling him as "maato virodhi and "jaati virodhi'
(anti-land and anti-community). "But I am not that. People should understand that if I had not taken such a step then (during the Gorkhaland agitation last year), there would have been no normality in the Hills,' he said.
According to him, since he took charge of the GTA on 25 September 2017, he has been busy trying to do away with the ills here. "As such, I want help, advice or cooperation from everybody on different issues to organise Darjeeling Hills on different aspects," lie said,
