Threat over tea bonus
Vivek Chhetri, TT, Feb 06, 2018, Darjeeling: The GNLF-affiliated Himalayan Plantation Workers' Union has threatened to gherao offices of tea planters' associations in Darjeeling and demonstrate on estates from February 20 unless bonus is cleared immediately.
J.B. Tamang, the general secretary of the union, said on Wednesday: "The state government also wanted the planters to clear the bonus by January 31. However, the planters are reluctant to pay."
