One sentenced to life imprisonment for murder
MP, 16 Nov 2017, Darjeeling: The Session Court in Darjeeling awarded life imprisonment sentence to one Amir Biswakarama. 22-year-old Biswakarma was convicted for murdering one Vivek Rasaily.
On January 1, 2015 Biswakarma had murdered one Vivek Rasaily in the picnic spot Tribeny.
An altercation between two picnicking groups led to the stabbing of Rasaily by Biswakarma on that day.
Rasaily along with his family members had gone to Tribeny for picnic. Biswakarma too had arrived at Tribeny with his friends. They were in an inebriated state and were creating trouble. When Rasaily tried to stop him, Biswakarma stabbed him. He later died in the Kalimpong hospital.
An FIR was lodged against Biswakarma and others.
Biswakarma was arrested on January 3. "Biswakarma was charged under Section 302 (Murder) IPC. 21 witnesses were examined in this case" stated Pranay Rai, Public Prosecutor, Darjeeling.
