Aadhaar-Mobile linking: No need to give fingerprints to SIM retailer
Chennabasaveshwar Published: OI, November 3, 2017: For the convenience of mobile phone users the UIDAI has introduced a new rule in which people do not have to give fingerprints to local SIM retailer .
From December 1, mobile phone users can choose to verify mobile SIM with Aadhaar without giving their biometrics to telecom service providers.
OTP or One-Time Pin is offered by the UIDAI. Under one-time PIN-based authentication, an OTP with a limited period validity is sent to the mobile number and/ or e-mail address of the Aadhaar number holder registered with Aadhaar.
"The Aadhaar number holder shall provide this OTP along with his Aadhaar number during authentication and the same shall be matched with the OTP generated by the Authority," according to the UIDAI website - uidai.gov.in.
