More days off for govt offices next year
Debasis Konar | TNN | Oct 4, 2017,KOLKATA: While state government employees enjoyed uninterrupted 13 days of Puja vacation this year as their offices will reopen on October 9, they can be assured they will have the same number holidays or more next year as well. They might get 16 days off for Puja, making the total number of official holidays 40 in 2018.
Next year, the Puja falls between October 16 (Saptami) to 19 (Dashami). Though, the state government offices will remain shut from Sasthi (Monday , October 15), they get the weekend (Saturday , 13 and Sunday ,14) also clubbed to their vacation. As Lakshmi Puja will fall on October 24 (Wednesday) and October 25 is also a holiday , the employees are expecting an additional holiday on Friday that will allow them to join office on October 29. Thus, the offices may actually close for 16 days next year, with an additional holiday .
