Heavy rainfall likely in North Bengal districts for next 5 days
MP | 6 Aug 2017 | Kolkata: North Bengal districts may witness heavy rainfall in the next five days while South Bengal districts including the city may see intermittent rainfall, predicted the Regional Meteorological Office at Alipore.
According to the weather office, a new low pressure trough has formed over the Bay of Bengal bringing in some more rain at various parts of the state in the next few days.
As the result of this, people will have to be ready to experience a wet week ahead.
As per the weather office prediction, Kolkata and the costal districts will see rainfall in the next five days. Thunder cloud may form over North and South 24 Parganas and East Midnapore, West Midnapore and Burdwan which could result in thundershowers in some parts of these districts. But the five North Bengal districts will receive heavy rainfall.
A senior official of the weather office said the low pressure trough hovering over the Bay of Bengal will have an impact in South West direction of the state. Dooars, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar are among the places that would receive heavy rainfall in the next five days.
Meanwhile, flood situation in all the affected districts is gradually improving. Repairing of roads in the affected districts are being done by the district administration. Senior administrative officials are personally monitoring the situation in all the worst affected districts. They have taken all possible measures to ensure that the relief materials reach the affected areas.
