Mamata leaves for The Netherlands to address UN meet in Hague today
She is scheduled to leave for Netherlands on Monday morning.
"The Future is Now: Accelerating Public Service Innovation for Agenda 2030" is the theme of the 2017 UN Public Service Forum and the Chief Minister will be speaking on this subject. It may be mentioned that after the change of guard in Bengal, the state government, under her leadership, had undertaken several projects that benefitted the masses at a large scale and ensured an overall development of the state.
Side-by-side she also streamlined administration so that the government schemes easily reach the beneficiaries. The Chief Minister had introduced several schemes including Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi, Yuvashree, Aloshree and Sasthya Sathi among others for the benefit of the people in general.
The Kanyashree scheme had received international recognition with the Department for International; Development, United Kingdom and UNICEF selecting it to be presented at the "Girl Summit" 2014 in London. Banerjee had launched the scheme on October 1, 2013 and it had helped in bringing down dropout rates in schools in the state.
Around 500 dignitaries from different countries will be present in the programme when the Chief Minister addresses it. Banerjee will leave the city on Monday morning. Amit Mitra, the state Commerce and Industry minister, will be accompanying her.
On June 21, the Chief Minister will be interacting with business delegates and forums. Delegates from FICCI will also be present during the interaction. She will also be having a discussion with VNO Business Forum in The Netherlands to bring in investment in the state. Banerjee will be returning on June 25.
It may be recalled that in 2016, the Chief Minister had visited Italy and Germany and had interacted with industrialists of both the countries. She also went to Singapore and met entrepreneurs there. Banerjee will also be highlighting the Bengal Global Businesss Summit in January 2018.
