Siliguri based Momo manufacturer challenges Chinese imported frozen ones

Prashant Acharya,. EOI, SILIGURI, 20 May 2017: Momos which is not even the traditional food and originally of India but an Indian company based in Siliguri now has challenged the Chinese manufacturers to provide healthy, delicious, nutritious and cheaper for customers.
Siliguri based Shambhala Food Products Private Limited the owner of the rising Momo manufacturing and vending brand 'MOMO on WHEELS' have launched frozen Momos to compete the Chinese momos imported in India.
Momo on Wheels became the first vending brand in India that gained popularity within a short span of time after the chief minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee praised for its excellent quality and awarded praises during a programme named 'Egiye Bangla' at Kolkata.
The company on Saturday launched its 17 varieties of frozen Momos where people can enjoy its delicious flavor in decorated carts at the markets of Siliguri.
Addressing a press conference at Siliguri Journalist Club Company's founder director Debayan Biswas said, "Chinese Momos are available in some Indian restaurants but I am concerned about its health hygiene and the quality but our company will be the first in India to manufacture frozen momos which are good for health, nutritious and also aims to generate employment to the poor and underprivileged people."
According to Debayan, the company is planning to launch 100 carts in Bengal and then enter the other states of India, presently there are 30 carts selling momos in Kolkata, and North Bengal. In Siliguri the company launched four carts today and within a week the number will increase to 20.
He also that company is planning to export frozen momos in Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh, presently frozen packets are sold in Indian restaurants at New Delhi, Orissa, Goa and North eastern states.
