TT, Alipurduar, April 23: Seven former militants of Kamptapur Liberation Organisation have written to Mamata Banerjee seeking an appointment to discuss the surrender of Jeevan Singh, the self-styled chief of the outfit.
The letter was submitted to the Cooch Behar district magistrate by the militants, including Sumitra Roy, the sister of Singh, and her husband Dhanonjoy Barman.
Police have not been able to arrest Singh as he has been in hiding since 1998.
The couple claim that Singh, who was suspected to be dead in an army operation in 2015, is still alive.
Dhanonjoy said: "We have seen Singh in a video clip in December last year. We want him to surrender and assistance from the government to help him return to the mainstream."Alipurduar, April 23: Seven former militants of Kamptapur Liberation Organisation have written to Mamata Banerjee seeking an appointment to discuss the surrender of Jeevan Singh, the self-styled chief of the outfit.
