Funds flow for district

TT, Alipurduar, Feb. 5: North Bengal development minister Rabindranath Ghosh today announced funds for two Alipurduar colleges and inaugurated an electric crematorium and laid the foundation stone of Rabindra Bhavan here.
Ghosh said: "We will give Rs 5 crore to Alipurduar Mahila College and Rs 4 crore to Alipurduar college. We have given Rs 3.5 crore for the electric crematorium in ward VIII and Rs 14 crore for the construction of Rabindra Bhavan. We will also grant Rs 4 crore to construct a model market in the Alipurduar New Town area."
Ghosh said the department had given Rs 80 lakh to install LED lights on either side of the street here and Rs 75 lakh to construct a road from Mahakal Dham to New Alipurduar.
Ganga Prasad Sharma, the BJP president of Alipurduar district committee, said erection of lights was not development. "The state only makes announcements. Nobody cares about tea garden workers."
