GJMM youth wing takes out bike rally with slogans of harmony

SNS, Kalimpong, 23 January 2017: After chief minister Mamata Banerjee, during her four day Darjeeling tour, announced that she would be coming to Kalimpong next month for execution of a separate district bifurcating Darjeeling district, Gurkha Jan Mukti Youth Wing today started a four-day long bike rally with a slogan of 'Nation-building, unity, harmony'.
People of Kalimpong today witnessed two events at Dumber Chowk. People belonging to the Khas community were jubilant as chief minister announced a separate board for them and allotted Rs 5 crore for development.
People came to Dumber Chowk and rejoiced by bursting fire crackers.
On the other hand GJMM youth w s bike rally was fined off from the same chowk by Dr RB Bhujel, GTA member and president of GJMM Kalimpong sub division committee.
About 40 bikers are taking part in the rally which will increase as many others will join in, informed Binay Ghising, secretary of the youth wing. Meanwhile Dr Bhujel said Gorkhas haven long history of serving the country before independence as well as post Independence which is still continuing. " We have some problems which need to be addressed but in the meantime we need to reach the main stream of the country. To arouse a national feeling, the rally will cover the entire 13 GTA constituency in Kalimpong," he added.
The youths taking part in the rally today covered 33, 34, 35, 37 and 39 no constituency and halted at Pedong.
The youth paid homage to Sahid Mangal Singh Rajput and Swami Vivekananda and arranged two path Sabha at Tirpai and Malli.
The rally, after covering the entire region of Kalimpong, will return on 26 January informed Mr Ghising.
