Weekly surprise visits at NBMCH

SNS | Siliguri | 05 November, 2016: The administration will conduct a surprise visit at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital ( NBMCH) every week to check the dedication of the medical staff including doctors to their duties, said the new NBMCH Rogi Kalyan Samity ( RKS) chairman and Darjeeling district magistrate Anurag Srivastava.
Srivastava held his first RKS meeting on Friday.
“I will try to visit personally every week here. The other administrative officers will also visit. There will be two visits in a week but one will be a surprise visit. The purpose of the visits will be to check how well the medical staff, doctors are performing their duties,” he said.
Srivastava said strict actions will be taken against any negligence. “Biometric attendance system has already been introduced here. But it will be made mandatory. Proxy attendance will not be allowed. This is not only for the doctors but for all the employees,” he said.
There are allegations against a section of NBMCH doctors that despite their absence from duty their signatures turn up in the attendance registers. The RKS chairman said strict action would be taken against encroachment on the NBMCH premises. There are temporary stalls; the corridors are used for selling different items. “We want they should leave, otherwise we will remove them,” he said.
Three sub-committees have been set up on Friday. One committee will look into cleanliness issue, another is meant for civil and fire services and another committee will look into the day-to-day affairs.
