Lesser Black Krait found in Rajganj

Prashant Acharya, EOI, SILIGURI, 16 Oct 2016: A venomous Lesser Black Krait snake was found today at Kalinagar in Majhiyali Anchal of Rajganj block in Jalpaiguri.
Locals said the snake was 106.07 centimeters long, as opposed to species' normal length of 102 centimeters.
The Lesser Black Krait is usually found in Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling districts. It has also been found in Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, northern Bangladesh and Nepal.
The Lesser Black Krait is one of the most poisonous snakes found in the country; it releases a neurotoxin upon biting its victim. The animal is a species of the venomous elapid snake.
