Union tourism ministry approves six home stays
SNS, Siliguri, 16 September: Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, recognized a total of six local stake holders for responsible and sustainable tourism through Home Stays under Incredible India Bed and Breakfast scheme in Darjeeling Himalayas.
Sources said 15 more stake holders and community people in the Dooars region are likely to get approval from Ministry of Tourism.
Approval either from the state or of the Central government is a must for the interested foreign tourists from official and technical point of view According to them the ministry has approved some home stays at Sittong in Kurseong, Rangaroon tea estate, Tukdah tea estate, Tukdah Cantonment in Darjeeling and Rikisum in Kalimpong.
One Rojen Rai said, "We are trying hard to develop tourism and socio economy through Home Stay. We are not in debate related to area operation under the ETA and state government" According to them, all Home Stays are almost full during Durga puja's to January 2017.
One Rajen Pradhan said, "No tourist has asked me about any problem of agitation in the Hills, If so we will decide later. But we don't apprehend any problem which may affect the prospect of Home Stay tourism."
