TT, Kalimpong, Sept. 9: Manju Rajput, the wife of Mangal Singh Rajput, the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha activist who had committed self immolation in support of Gorkhaland, was among scores of people who joined the Trinamul Congress at a public rally in Pedong today.
Manju said she was joining Trinamul since the Morcha had failed to recognise the supreme sacrifice of her husband.
Protest off
TT, Kalimpong: The Highway Jan Mazdoor Sangathan that is backed by the Jan Andolan Party has suspended its dharna in front of the public works department office indefinitely following a request by the district administration and an assurance that officials would try to accommodate contract workers from the hills for the maintenance of NH10.
