Man lynched for allegedly stealing cattle
Pinak Priya Bhattacharya | TNN | Sep 8, 2016, JALPAIGURI: A man in his early thirties was lynched on suspicion of stealing cattle in Jalpaiguri district late on Tuesday. The attack took place in Basuniar Bari area of Padamati I gram panchayat.
Villager Ananta Roy Basunia reportedly spotted the man trying to steal a cow when he left his home at night to answer nature's call. He immediately raised an alarm, waking his family and neighbours. The villagers caught the alleged thief and beat him to death.The victim is yet to be identified.
Prima facie he did not seem to belong to the village, police said.
Last year, two persons were lynched at Maynaguri's Churabhandar for allegedly stealing cows.
