Mamata north tour from Sept 21

TT, Siliguri, Sept. 19: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee will arrive here on Wednesday, the start of a three-day trip to Kalimpong and Siliguri.
Anurag Srivastava, the district magistrate of Darjeeling, said: "The chief minister will arrive at Bagdogra on September 21. She will attend a bicycle distribution programme under the Sabuj Sathi scheme and head to Kalimpong. On September 22 and September 23, she will attend programmes to be organised by two development boards in Kalimpong. On September 24, she will leave for Calcutta."
According to administrative sources, on September 22, Mamata will attend a programme of the development board of the Lepcha community to be held at the Mela Ground while on the next day, she will be at another programme to be organised by the development board of Tamangs, at the Graham's Home Ground. Both these venues are in Kalimpong.
Srivastava, while elaborating on tomorrow's cycle distribution event, said 18,546 cycles would be handed over to students of state government-aided schools who have been promoted to Class X this year.
"As of now, we have received around 10,000 cycles for such students from the Siliguri Municipal Corporation area, Phansidewa and Naxalbari blocks. The chief minister will initiate the distribution tomorrow and will hand over the cycles to students of three schools," he said.
"For the remaining beneficiaries, cycles would be sent to the respective schools from September 27 and onwards."
Language
Central leaders of the Kamtapur Progressive Party, a faction of the KPP led by Atul Roy, has written to the chief minister and reminded her of her promise to recognise the Rajbanshi language.
The outfit said it had supported Trinamul in the Assembly election based on Mamata Banerjee's assurance.
