Sikkim natural Lake name

TT, Gangtok, Aug. 29: Chief minister Pawan Chamling has said the lake that was formed after a landslide near the Kanaka river in North district will be named after Lepcha chief Thekong Thek.
On August 13, a slide at Mantam village had resulted in the formation of the lake and 23 houses had submerged in it. The water body, to be known as Thekong Thek Lake, is 300m long, 100m wide and 70m deep.
KalimNews: The lake like dam was formed on 13th August in the Kanka river, a tributary of river Teesta. A massive landslip occurred at 'So-Bhir' cliff near Dzongu in Upper Dzongu under Passingdong Subdivision at the 4th mile area.
The entire hillside opposite Mantam village spanning around 100 metres slide off and the debris from the slide collected over the Kanaka river creating a huge natural dam stopping the river flow.
This dam has created a natural lake and the Government of Sikkim has decided not to completely clear the debris of the lake for the timebeing.
Considering the demand of the local people of Mantam and Upper Dzongu, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling declared that Thekong Thek will be kept as it is for few months to observe and monitor the strength of the landslide dam.
He also suggested that if the lake is proven to be stable it could become a tourist destination and provide an alternative source of livelihood to the people of Dzongu.
