
Seven-yr-old boy killed by leopard
HT, 7 Aug 2016, SILIGURI: In a tragic incident, a seven-year-old boy was killed by a leopard and part of his body eaten up by the animal at Rajabhatkhawa tea garden in Alipurduar, on the fringes of Buxa Tiger Reserve, on Saturday afternoon.
Umesh Munda, the victim, is the son of a tea garden worker. He was bringing his father, Tutia Munda, his lunch when a leopard suddenly appeared from beneath a bush and pounced on him.
The two friends accompanying Umesh ran away as the leopard killed him.
The boy was going to section 8 of the tea garden where his father was working when the fully grown leopard attacked him.
A senior forest officer said, “It's been many years since such an attack (of a leopard killing a human) has occurred."
