
Govt launches Kanyashree Prakalpa app

The state government also celebrated the third anniversary of the ‘Kanyashree’ project, which provides financial support to girl children for their education.
Amit Mitra, state finance and industry and commerce minister said that Kanyashree project has been acclaimed worldwide. He also pushed the button to generate certificates for over three lakh Kanyashree girls. “These can be availed by the girls by logging into the dedicated website for the purpose,” he said.
A colourful function was organised at the Netaji Indoor Stadium, which was attended by thousands of school girls from all over the state. Several performances like dance dramas, martial arts and folk dances were presented by the girls from several districts. The Kanyashree project has so far benefitted 34 lakh girls in the state, said state minister for child development Shashi Panja.
The best five districts of the state in terms of performance in implementing the Kanyashree project Nadia, Birbhum, Kolkata, Bankura and Malda were felicitated. Fifteen girls under this project from several districts were felicitated for their achievement in different fields of activity.
