Golay to revamp SKM
TT, Gangtok, Aug. 26: The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha president, P.S. Golay, who was out of the state for three months for medical treatment, today said he would now focus on restructuring the party at the ward and constituency levels.
Golay, 47, had returned to Sikkim on August 24 after a surgery in Hyderabad and rest in New Delhi.
Asked about the future activities, Golay told The Telegraph: "The SKM is making changes at the ward and constituency level committees for better functioning of the party. My absence doesn't mean that the party was dormant. The SKM functionaries were always in touch with me to discuss plans of our party. Our kranti (revolution) is still alive."
Sources in the SKM said the return of Golay to the state was seen as a precursor to his preparation for the panchayat elections to be held next year.
"There is time for panchayat elections. The SKM will decide whether to contest the election or not. For now, my objective is to reconnect with the people. I will visit villages and interact with people to understand their problems," said Golay, who is also an MLA.
He addressed a ward level meeting of the SKM at Khecolpari in West Sikkim today.
