Deb's duty reminder to docs at NBMCH
"I have got to know that some doctors at NBMCH do not attend their duties regularly and some of them are on leave most of the time. Doctors come to the hospital to mark their attendance in the bio-metric system in the morning and evening but do not attend their duties. This will not be tolerated and we want all the doctors to attend their duty regularly," said tourism minister Deb, who today held a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti of the NBMCH as the chairman.
He said the hospital authorities would closely monitor the doctors. "I will visit the hospital from time to time to take stock of the situation."
Deb said a meeting of the high-power committee on health chaired by minister Chandrima Bhattacharya would be held in Calcutta next month. "A team of NBMCH officials and doctors will attend the meeting where matters related to the medical college will be discussed," added the minister.
The minister later also attended the Rogi Kalyan Samiti meeting of the North Bengal Dental College and Hospital in Siliguri.
"The NBDCH authorities have applied to the Dental Council of India to increase the number of BDS seats from 50 to 100 and sanction the PG course with four seats. A multi-purpose hall is coming up and the construction of the major operation theatre at the NBDCH is almost complete," said Deb.
Sources at NBMCH said 50 posts of doctors were vacant at present.
