
Six minor girls rescued, two suspected traffickers arrested..... 16 minor inmates flee from NGO safe home, 15 still missing

12 Apr 2016: Government Railway Police personnel today rescued six minor girls from the New Jalpaiguri Railway station as they were being whisked away to unidentified locations by traffickers.
Ahamed Siddhiqi and Renuka Limbu, the suspected traffickers who were with the girls on Platform No. 3 waiting to board a train, have been detained, a police source informed.
Swapan Sarkar, the IC of the NJP GRP, said the girls are residents of Bagdogra and Darjeeling and had been lured by the traffickers with promises of providing them lucrative jobs in Varanasi.
The police are interrogating the two suspects to ascertain whether more people are involved in the racket.
Siliguri, 12 Apr 2016: Fifteen minor boys have gone missing since late Monday night from a safe home of the Siliguri-based Care of Needy Children Rightfully Nurtured (CONCERN).
The NGO’s authorities said 16 inmates were involved in an altercation among themselves and fled from the home after assaulting the caretaker and tying him up with cables. The caretaker, Sameer Choudhery, has been admitted at the Siliguri Sadar Hospital.
CONCERN official Tapas Karmakar a complaint has been lodged at the New Jalpaiguri Police station. According to Karmakar, of the 16 missing, only one has returned. He added the minors had set up the entire incident and they are trying to trace the 15 missing boys with police help.
