JAP president attacked by GJM

KalimNews, Kalimpong 12 April 2016: An FIR is lodged against persons involved in an alleged attack by GJM activists at East Main Road of Kalimpong. 
According to the FIR lodged at Kalimpong Thana, Dr. H.B.Chhetri, JAP president and candidate of Assembly Election 2016 and sitting MLA was attacked while visiting Chhina Danra area of East Main Road for election canvassing at about 9 pm tonight. 
He and his supporters were stoned and was forced to stop, alleged the FIR. Supporters of GJM and GJYM leaders stopped vehicle of Dr. Chhetri and his supporters for about 2 hours. Additional police force came to rescue him and warned GJM supporters of Lathi charge then only he was allowed to return to the town. 
According to the allegation the road was blocked by placing big stones and members of GJM youth and womens wing forced the team of JAP to stop.They were led by some GJM contractors. Some stones were also thrown at Dr. Chhetri's vehicle, it alleged. 
After the safe return, JAP team gheraoed SDOs Office Kalimpong at midnight, demanding the Asst. Returning Officer to take action against the culprits which violated the norms of Election Commission. 
Meanwhile Police has arrested a Morcha supporter driver Santosh Chhetri.
