Election in Kolkata in April, May
The entire exercise will stretch into the third week of May, with the results to be declared on 19 May.
In the six-phase polling schedule, the number of voting days will be seven, as the Maoist-affected areas will vote on two days in the first phase. Kolkata will first go to the polls in Phase III on 21 April along with Murshidabad, Nadia and Burdwan. Altogether 62 Assembly segments are voting in Phase III.
The Assembly constituencies in north Kolkata include Chowringhee,Entally, Beleghata, Jorasanko, Shyampukur, Maniktala and Kashipur-Belgachia.
On 30 April, Kolkata will again go to the polls in Phase V along with South 24-Parganas and Hooghly.In this phase polling will be held for 53 Assembly segments in South 24-Parganas, Kolkata and Hooghly.
The Assembly constituencies in south Kolkata include Kolkata Port, Bhowanipore, Rashbehari and Ballygunge.
According to the breakup received from the CEO office, three districts - Bankura, West Midnapore and Purulia with a total of 18 Maoist affected constituencies - will vote on 4 April.
On 11 April in Phase I polling will be held in West Midnapore, Bankura and Burdwan, which account for 31 Assembly constituencies. On 17 April in Phase II polling is scheduled for 56 constituencies of North Bengal including Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri.
On 21 April in Phase III 62 constituencies of Murshidabad, Nadia, Burdwan and Kolkata North are going to the polls whilst polling for 49 constituencies in Phase IV of North 24-Parganas and Howrah will be held on 25 April.
The polling for 53 constituencies of South 24-Parganas, South Kolkata and Hooghly is on 30 April. In Phase VI 25 Assembly constituencies of East Midnapore and Cooch Behar will be voting on 5 May.
