54 boys rescued 11 traffickers arrested

KalimNews, Patna, 20 March 2016: 8 boys of Malda and Katihar were rescued from Archana Express along with others. In a joint rescue operation Railway CHILDLINE Patna with the help of GRP Patna Junction these boys could be rescued from Patna Junction.
On receiving a tip off by Railway CHILDLINE, GRP Patna Junction was notified following which the rescue was carried out. Two of the eight children belong to Katihar district while the remaining 6 are from Malda district of West Bengal. All were being taken to other states for child labour. 11 accused have been arrested and FIR has been lodged.

According to the information received altogether 54 boys, mostly minors were rescued from two railway stations with arrest of 11 agents.

On receiving the information of trafficking minor boys, GRP Patna Junction searched some compartments and 2 agents were arrested while 22 boys were rescued. But the train left the station and the search in other compartments could not be continued. The search was continued at the Archana Express train reached Buxar Junction, 32 boys were rescued with arrest of 9 traffickers. These boys were being taken to Jammu and Uttar Pradesh to work in carpet factory.
