12 hour hill strike on 10th December
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 9 December 2015: Frontal wings of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha declared its support to 12 hours hill strike called by Darjeeling Terai Duars Plantation Labour Union.
The strike called in protest against the management of tea gardens is supported by Darjeeling Subdivisional Committee and All Transport Joint Action Committee and other frontal wings of GJMM. ATJAC General Secretary Pramod Shrimal stated that in support of the strike all transport in the hills will be off the road. Only essential and emergency vehicles will be allowed to ply. Meanwhile Kalimpong Subdivisional committee of GJM has declared that National Highway connecting Sikkim will also be out of the preview of the strike. Passengers having railway and air tickets will be allowed to travel in a group in the vehicle having permission of the party.
DTDPLU has protested of ill treatment to the workers and negligence towards the tea garden by the management and the owner of the tea gardens . It has also raised voice against the closure of the tea gardens and less payment of bonus and wages.
