Two WB air force sqaudrons to get President's Standard
At a grand ceremonial parade at Hasimara air force station on November 28, President Pranab Mukherjee will bestow the honour on squadrons No 18 and No 22, according to an official statement.
Group Captain K J Singh, Commanding Officer of No 18 Squadron and Group Captain Sandeep Singh, Commanding Officer of No 22 Squadron, will receive the President's Standards.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha would also be present on the occasion along with other senior officials.
Formed at Ambala on 15 April, 1965, 18 Squadron had played the role of the 'Defenders of Kashmir Valley' during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
22 Squadron, on the other hand, proved their mettle as the most successful and destructive fighter squadron of IAF in the 1971 War, the statement added.
