Mrinalini Sharma, TT, Siliguri, Aug. 31: The eighth edition of the "Confluence 2015" organised by St Michael's School in association with The Telegraph started with an inter-school quiz competition today.
The event was conducted at Savin Kingdom on the outskirts of Siliguri and students from more than 20 schools in Siliguri and the surrounding Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Sikkim participated in it.
A general quiz for the junior section, students of Classes V and VI, was a new feature added to Confluence this year. Like in previous years, there were a general quiz and a sports and entertainment quiz for the senior section, from Class V to Class X.
The participating schools had to qualify the preliminary rounds to reach the finals. Each team had two members.
Quiz master Parnab Mukherjee made the quiz interesting by mentioning facts and anecdotes after every question he asked. He encouraged the participants to discuss with team members and attempt an answer even if it was wrong.
St Michael's School, Siliguri, won first prizes in all the three segments. In the general quiz for the juniors, Don Bosco School, Siliguri, was in the second position, while St Xavier's School, Siliguri, came third.
Delhi Public School, Siliguri, and St Augustine's School, Kalimpong, came second and third, respectively, in the general quiz for the senior section.
In the sports and entertainment quiz for the senior section, St Joseph's School, Bhaktinagar, was in the second position and Birla Divya Jyoti School, Siliguri, in the third position.
