Khambu Rais announces Kolkata khatma dot

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 06 August 2015: "Kolkata khatma dot" "Let us go to Kolkata" will be the next round of agitational programme of Kirati Khambu Rai people of India. Khambu Rights Movement announced (KRM) its programme to go to Kolkata during this September to press its demand for the Scheduled Tribe status.

The agitational programme of Kirati Khambu Rais will include demonstrations and deputations to the state government, stated its spokesperson Manoj Khambu Rai.

He added that the core committee meeting of KRM in the presidentship of its president A K Rai made the decision to go to Kolkata and meet the state government officials and ministers.

Sandip Kulung secretary of KRM said that Kirati Khambu Rais are tribal people and that is a universal truth. Still the government has not included Kirati Khambu Rai in the scheduled list though it has been demanding for the same since many years. He further added that the criteria modalities is also fulfilled by it but showing different excuses and irrelevant and wrong information it has been deprived of its legitimate right.

Distinct and unique culture and traditions of Rais itself demand of the status it has been seeking which is very much constitutional and supported by many. This programme is organised seeking recommendation of the state for the demand of Khambus, added Manoj Rai.
