Tripartite meet in hills
Vivek Chhetri, TT, Darjeeling, June 19: The Centre has decided to convene a tripartite meeting on the functioning of the GTA in Darjeeling on June 23, said sources in the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha.
The tripartite meeting involving the central and state governments and the GTA is being held in Darjeeling for the first time.
"Apart from issue of non-transfer of departments (from the state to the GTA), we will be raising the delay in the formation of subordinate selection board, college service commission and school service commission," said a Morcha source.
The GTA is also likely to raise the demand for the implementation of three-tier panchayat system in the hills and seek increase in the special financial package to the hill body.
Officials from the Union home ministry (state-centre relations) and state home secretary Basudeb Banerjee might attend the meeting.
