Is drinking soft drinks really bad for one's health? If yes, why?
The calories from the beverages are empty calories with no nutritional value. An occasional soda isn’t going to harm, but drinking too much may lead to weight gain and health problems.

1) They're used as a substitute for water. Soft drinks have significant quantities of sugar. Consuming sugary sodas lead to Type-2 diabetes. It can also cause enamel of tooth decay and also cardiovascular (heart) diseases. It is responsible for deposition of extra fat in body.
2) Most soft drinks have caffeine which is a diuretic increasing urination leaving the body dehydrated. Taking too much caffeine can make recovery prolonged.
3) Consuming more calories lead to weight gain. A 12 ounce can contain approximately 140 calories.
4) Soft drinks contain phosphoric acid that can
deplete calcium from bones.
5) Sometimes affects sleep.
6) It also causes metabolism to drop which is responsible for increase tummy size.
7) It makes your bones weaker which create problem with age.
8) Last but not the least the colouring used in cold drinks is a cancer causing agent.
If taken it twice or thrice in a month then it is not harmful. It depends more on the frequency than just the generalisation of the statement. Cola drinks are just like acids that slowly binge on stomach and reduce its functionality.Daily consumption is a strict no no.
However on the bright side, soft drinks contain CO2, so after a heavy meal, it helps to release the gas that might accumulate in your body. Also its refreshing.
All Disadvantage of drinking Soft Drink: Energy drinks contain up to five times more stimulant than espresso, yet the support they give is transient and accompanies disagreeable symptoms like apprehension, peevishness, and quick pulse.
