Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai becomes 1st woman Judge of Sikkim HC

IPR & KalimNews, 15 April, Gangtok : Mrs. Meenakshi Madan Rai was today sworn in as the Judge of Sikkim High Court.
The Governor Mr. Shriniwas Patel in a function organized at Ashirwad Hall, Raj Bhawan administered the oath of office to her.
It may be informed that Justice Mrs. Meenakshi M Rai is the first Lady Judge of the Sikkim High Court.
The function saw the benign presence of the Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling, Chief Justice, High Court of Sikkim Justice Mr. S.K. Sinha, Judge High Court of Sikkim Justice Mr. S.P. Wangdi, Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Mr. K.N Rai, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, HODs of various departments, members of the BAR, and host of other dignitaries.
Justice Mrs. Meenakshi M Rai after taking the oath signed the solemn oath/ affirmation relating to her assumption of office and the Governor attested the solemn oath/ affirmation.
She was duly congratulated by Governor Shri. Shriniwas Patil, Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling and host of other invitees by offering her the traditional scarf.
Earlier Chief Secretary Mrs. R Ongmu read out the notification of appointment, notification and the warrant of appointment of Justice Mrs. Meenakshi.
Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai who hails from Sikkim is the third judge of Sikkim High Court and now the state has the full strength of three judges after one year gap.
