Court refused to grant an interim stay on Lepcha Teachers appointment

TT, Calcutta, April 20: Calcutta High Court today refused to grant an interim stay on the appointment of Lepcha teachers in Darjeeling schools by the district magistrate but asked the state to file an affidavit stating their view on the confrontation between the state and the GTA over various issues.
Justice Tapobrata Chakrabarti’s directive followed a petition by the GTA, moved in March, to challenge the legality of the state government’s decision to appoint 46 para-teachers in 46 schools across Darjeeling district for teaching the Lepcha language.
