
Prof Lama in the Indian Delegation for the 12th BCIM Forum in Myanmar
PR, KalimNews, 8 Febryary 2015: The 12th Forum of Bangladesh, China, India and Myanmar (BCIM) on Economic Cooperation is being held at Yangon, Myanmar from 10-11 February 2015.
High level delegations from all the four countries will be participating in this meeting. Prof Mahendra P Lama who is a member of the Indian delegation will present the lead paper entitled “Poverty Alleviations Dynamics in the Region”. The Indian delegation is led by Ambassador Eric Gonsalves.
The Delegation will be received by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Myanmar His Excellency U Thant Kyaw at the Inya Lake Hotel in Yangon on Monday the 9th February.
The BCIM delegations from these four countries will also discuss issues related to connectivity, trade and people to people contacts among these countries.
The connectivity issue also includes linking New Delhi with Myanmar via Bangladesh and China. It may be recalled a car rally has already been successfully held on this route from Kolkata to Yangon in 2013. It is expected that the delegates and other representatives including from the private sector will issue a joint statement which would record the progress made among these countries on cooperation in the above issues and also what major projects need to be done in future.
