
Mercury falls in Tiger Hills, visitors miss sunrise
EOI, Darjeeling, 15 December 2014: The temperature dipped to minus 3 degrees Celsius at Tiger Hill on Sunday after a three hour drizzle since early this morning, leaving around 1,500 tourists disappointed on missing the beautiful view of the rising sun and its reflection on the Kanchenjungha.
“The temperature dipped to 3 degrees Celsius at Tiger Hill in the morning after a light drizzle,” said Pradip Pradhan, Manager of Tiger Hill Pavilion.
While Sandakphu, Phalut and Tonglu on the outskirts of Darjeeling witnessed snowfall again this year. It was also reported that it rained twice in Darjeeling on Sunday.
“It snowed in Sandakphu not only in the morning but also in the evening,” said Bharat Prakash Rai, President of the Federation of Environment Protection and Society.
