Khambu Rights Movement refutes a statement
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 13 December 2014: Khambu Rights Movement has refuted a statement published in a english daily which has brought confusion among its members an others.
With reference to a news published in the newspaper of 12 Dec 2014 Khambu Rights Movement has declared that it has not supported any programme of AIKKRA, and the statement published is false.
In a press release Khambu Rights Movement has stated that it has nothing to do with the programme and it has been misquoted or wrongly implicated as such it refutes the statement.
The release further states that Khambu Rights Movement has its headquarter in Kalimpong and it has so far no branches and units as it is just a movement and Mahesh Rai is also not an office bearer or member of KRM.
It adds KRM has and will work for the rights of the Khambus in cooperation of all the Khambus of the nation irrespective of organisations and federations but it will and has the right to announce its programme by its office bearers and no organisation or association can give any such information related to us unless we officially announce it.
It is reminded that Khambu Rights Movement is active since last year and had organised a new year Yeledung rally and relay hunger strike in Kalimpong. Recently it organised a three days Dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi from 27th to 29th November 2014.
It also submitted requisite documents and appeal to the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Tribal Minister and other MPs for inclusion of Kirati Khambu Rai in the Scheduled Tribe list.
All responded well and the Tribal Minister confirmed the delegation team that officially his ministry received the documents of the Khambus for the first time. He also assured us of support from his government for the demand.
The matter published in the daily stating that KRM is supporting AIKKRA is misleading, it concluded.
