Sikkim girl represents India in Italy festival
SNS, Gangtok, November 17 : Roshnila Gurung of South Sikkim has made the country and her state proud when she represented India and Sikkim in the ‘Florence Youth and Heritage Festival’ in Florence in Italy through November 10-14.
Ms Gurung was the keynote speaker for the ‘International Students’ Workshop on Value Education For Culture, Peace And Human Development: From India To The World’.
The workshop was attended by students from different countries like Russia, Belarus, Italy, Turkmenistan and Republic of Azerbaijan.
A film titled ‘Sikkim: A Peace Within,’ conceptualized by Ms Gurung and young filmmaker of Sikkim, Bhuwan Sharma, was also screened during the festival. The film had been made specifically for the workshop as part of Ms Gugung’s presentation in Italy.
Ms Gurung also represented the Minister of Cultural Affairs and Heritage, GM Gurung, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Sikkim and the International Institute of Life beyond Tourism to extend the institute's network in Sikkim.
It may be noted that Sikkim will be the first state in India to have the institute’s network.
Ms Gurung has been invited to Vicenza, Italy, on March 2015 as a speaker for a conference, which is being organized by the Institute Of Religious And Scientific Studies, Santa Maria Di Monte Berico and to the Belarusian State Economic University, Minsk, Belarus, to deliver lectures on the subject.
