Nepal Police gun down ''most wanted'' Indian criminal
PTI, EOI, Kathmandu, 23 Nov 2014: An Indian national, who was in the most wanted list of Nepal Police, has been killed in an encounter in southern Nepal, police said.
Sahasran Khan of Maharajganj district, Uttar Pradesh, was killed in an encounter between police and a gang in Bishnupura village of Rupandehi District on Saturday, Himalayan Times said.
Three of his gang members surrendered before the police and a pistol was seized from their possession.
Superintendent of Police Rajendra Dhakal said police patrol team had to open fire in retaliation. Khan was involved in some murder and robbery cases that had taken place in the district.
"Khan was a most wanted criminal for abducting and murdering one Akash Gurung of Bhairahawa a few months back. He was also charged with robbing a money exchange centre in Taulihawa," Dhakal was quoted as saying in the report.
Those who surrendered are being interrogated as further investigations are underway, said the official.
