Man held for ‘rape’ of daughter
SNS, Gangtok, 16 November 2014: In a bizarre incident, a father has been arrested and charged for the rape of his eight-year-old daughter in Omchung village under the Gayzing police station area in West Sikkim. Police said the 64-year-old man has been taken into custody after the matter came to light at the victim’s school.
The girl who was spotted to be unwell by a teacher, Bishnu Maya Lama, revealed the crime committed by the little girl’s own father.
Following the revelation, the school management summoned the father and handed him over to the police.
The father has been booked under Section 376 of the IPC and under the POSCO Act 2012, and will be transferred to Rongyek state prison after producing him before a court, police said.
