Death of Prince Namgyal: Gangtok business closure on Nov 5


 EOI, Gangtok, 2 Nov 2014: Business establishments in Gangtok would be closed on November 5 in mark of respect to the memory of former Prince Jigdal Tshewang Namgyal, the youngest son of the late Chogyal Sir Tashi Namgyal, at his residence in the Development Area, Gangtok, on October 30, according to a statement issued by the Sikkim Chamber of Commerce on Sunday.

“Sikkim Chamber of Commerce requests to keep their shops / business establishments close on the day of the cremation of the departed soul on 5th November 2014, Wednesday. However, essential services shall remain open,” the statement said.
A condolence meeting was held during the day by the Chamber in the memory of the departed Prince and a two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect. Members recalled the golden era of the Chogyal regime.
