Brother allegedly rapes, murders sister in Naxalbari
Prashant Acharya, EOI, Siliguri, 12 November 2014: The Naxalbari police station was gheraoed on Wednesday by hundreds of people demanding the severest of punishments to a man who alleged killed his sister after kidnapping and raping her. The 32-year-old has been accused of kidnap, rape and murder.
Darjeeling SP Akhilesh Chaturvedi said the accused, a van driver by profession and a resident of Totaramjote, Khatalbusty under Naxalbari PS, has been arrested for kidnapping his 10-year-old sister. He added the charges of murder and rape has not been registered yet as the post mortem report was pending.
Totaramjote resident Rameshwar Sharma said a semi nude body was found hanging from a tree near Chota Maniramjote in Naxalbari. Some locals added there was an ongoing land dispute within the family.
The victim’s body has been sent for a post mortem at the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital while the accused will be produced at the Siliguri court on Thursday.
