White pavement barriers turn red in Siliguri
The grills on Sevoke Road and Hill Cart Road which have now turned red as passers-by spit paan or gutka indiscriminately.
“It is sad to see the grills which complemented the Puja festival in the city have now become a spectacle of shame. People of Siliguri should learn some civic sense. We cannot just look up to the municipal corporation every time for cleanliness, it is our duty also to keep our city clean” said a concerned citizen.
Param Bhowmick, resident of Fakurtala, said that proper spitting bins should be kept in the roads, and if the people still spat on public properties then they should be fined or otherwise penalized.
Despite various organizations in Siliguri observing the PM’s Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan, the level of cleanliness still seems dismal in the city.
North Bengal Developmental Minister Gautam Deb’s ‘Clean city : Green city’ concept too seems to have failed to keep Siliguri clean
