
Jawan dead, 35 injured in SSB bus accident in Kurseong
PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, Siliguri, 27 Oct 2014: A SSB jawan died while 35 others were injured when the bus they were travelling in towards Dudhia under Kurseong division for a firing practice plunged into a ditch near the Dudhia Bridge.
The incident occurred on Monday morning when 36 SSB’s Jawans of 41 Battalion of Ranidanga under Siliguri Frontier were travelling in a bus towards Dudhia firing range.
Out of 35 injured four are said to be critical and undergoing treatment at BSF’s composite hospital at Kadamtala.
Sub divisional police officer of Kurseong Chandra Bahadur Subba said that the bus plunged into the ditch after the driver lost the control. He said that SSB Jawan Anuj S (35) resident of Kerala died on the spot.
He said that after the incident the police reached the spot. SSB officers from Siliguri and Ranidanga also reached after they received the news. According to SSB officers. jawans of 41 battalion were sent for firing practice at Dudhia.
