Cultural, tourism fest in Hills kicks off
SNS, Kurseong, 9 October 2014: Different organisations and associations in and around Kurseong are making last minute preparations for the various cultural and tourism-based programmes that they plan to stage in Kurseong during the upcoming 10-day ‘Cultural and Tourism Festival 2014’.
With a view to promoting Gorkha culture and to attract more tourists in the region, the Gorkhaland Territorial Adminstration (GTA), with help from different organisations, associations and indivisuals are organising programmes to mark the festival at different places in Darjeeling Hills beginning tomorrow.
In Darjeeing, a program that will last a month was inaugurated yesterday at Chowrasta.
In Kurseong, the Cultural and Tourism Festival-2014 will kick off tomorrow and will last until 19 October.
“A final meeting was held in Kurseong between the organising committee and representatives of the concerned organisations and associations where last minute preparations were discussed ,” Press and Publicity in-charge of the Cultural and Tourism Festival-2014, Kurseong, Govind Chettri, said yesterday.
A cultural rally will originate at the Kurseong railway station and end at the INA bus terminus tomorrow, where 1001 balloons AND white piegons will be released for peace in the hills.
The various programmes will be staged at different places in Kurseong, mainly at the INA bus terminus.
