Attack slur on ACP: CP assures justice
SNS, Siliguri, 9 October: Durga Dilprasad Sharma, a 44-year-old resident of Siliguri, who was allegedly harassed by the assistant commissioner of police, Siliguri West, Manbendra Das, and a team of policemen at her house in Pradhananagar on October 3, today met the Commissioner of Police Jag Mohan and urged him to take immediate action against the ACP.
Durga’s daughter, Sasha, who accompanied her to the commissioner’s office this morning, told this correspondent that the CP had a 45-minute-long chat with them and he assured them all help.
Mrs Sharma had told a press meet here on Tuesday that at 3.00 am on October 3, a team of policemen in which there was no woman officer, raided her house, abused her and her five servants and two guests in the house and threatened them with dire consequences if they did not disclose the whereabouts of her husband, Dilparasad Sharma.
Sasha had then said that the ‘drunk’ ACP had alleged during the raid at her home that they ran an illegal bar and manufactured contraband liquor. She also said that they run a licensed bar and that the police did not find evidence to prove that they illegally manufactured liquor.
“At around 11.00 am today, my mother, my brother, Sanjiv and my colleague, Akhira Chakrasena called on the CP at his office. He gave us a patient hearing and promised to conduct an enquiry into the matter and take action against the guilty,” Sasha said today.
Mr Mohan told this correspondent that they would do the needful to redress the grievances of the Sharmas. He said any police personnel could enter into a house without a search warrant but could not cross the limits of decency in his/her work.
